Complete Installation & Configuration Guide

Network Configuration
1 Set Static IP Address
  1. Open SettingsNetwork & InternetEthernet
  2. Click your network connection
  3. Click Edit under IP settings
  4. Change from Automatic to Manual
  5. Enter your static IP, subnet mask, and gateway
2 Set Network to Private
  1. In SettingsNetwork & InternetEthernet
  2. Click your connection name
  3. Set Network profile to Private
Software Installation
3 Install VLC Media Player
  1. Download VLC 64-bit version from videolan.org
  2. Run installer with administrator privileges
  3. Complete installation with default settings
4 Add OpenSSH Server Feature
  1. Open SettingsSystemOptional Features
  2. Click View Features
  3. Search for OpenSSH Server
  4. Check the box and click Install
SSH Service Configuration
5 Configure OpenSSH Auto-Start
  1. Press Win + R, type services.msc
  2. Find OpenSSH SSH Server
  3. Right-click → Properties
  4. Set Startup type to Automatic
  5. Click Start if not running
6 Configure Windows Firewall
  1. Open Windows Defender Firewall
  2. Click Allow an app or feature
  3. Find OpenSSH SSH Server
  4. Check both Private and Public boxes
User Account Security
7 Set Account Password
⚠️ Critical: The Windows account running VLC MUST have a password set for OpenSSH to function.
  1. Press Ctrl + Alt + DelChange a password
  2. Or go to SettingsAccountsSign-in options
  3. Set a strong password
  4. Optional: Enable auto-login while keeping password set
Important Configuration Notes
8 Media Directory Setup
  • Current image directory: C:\Images
  • Used for all media types
  • Directory path can be changed in application code
  • Ensure VLC user account has read/write access to this folder

✅ Setup Complete!

VLC Media Player is now configured with SSH access and network connectivity
